MgBar, The Ultimate Launch Utility
22/11/2007: Bug fixed: now dragging a link to change its position in the list doesn't raise error in list index even if dragged after the last item in list. Function added: link to folder now highlighted with blue color.
05/11/2007: Fixed other two bugs:
- now dragging a broken link doesn't raise error in list index;
- Section creation dragging and dropping files works just fine.
27/10/2007: Fixed some minor bugs in link management page of Preferences panel.
This is my first program in Delphi. I began to develop it more than 10 years ago and now I am proud of my work.
WHAT'S THAT? MgBar is a small, flexible, powerful and nice launch bar for Windows users.
WHAT IT DOES FOR ME? MgBar provides an easy access to your programs without the need to browse annoying Windows menus and without the need to use Windows Explorer and its tree. You'll be able to launch any program, open any file type or folder with only two click of mouse: don't think this is useful?
HOW HAVE TO USE IT? All that you have to do it's to store in MgBar all programs, files and folder you wish easy and quick access to and organize them in how many you want customizable Sections. There are several way to do this: first, you can drag and drop your files from desktop or from Windows Explorer directly to MgBar: MgBar will ask you if you wish add a file or a folder and which Section you want to store it in (and you are dragging a Windows link file, MgBar will allow you to delete it automatically, so you'll have a clean Desktop; otherwise, you can open Preferences dialog window and add how many Sections and files you wish. That's all. Now, your Desktop will looks like this:

So, you select a Section with the first click of your mouse:

Then, launch your program with the second click:

As you can see, MgBar knows if a program you had stored as a link is still installewd in your computer and if not it shows a particular icon and a “File not found” message.
CAN I MODIFY THE MGBAR LOOK? Yes, you can do it. At the moment, you can change only MgBar colour but I plan to add soon other skins and maybe a skinner program also, so you'll be able to create your own skins
MgBar is tested on Windows 98, Windows ME (incredible, but it's worked on it!) and Windows XP (all versions). Not yet tested with Vista: I hope you gently send me any bug notification.
